Norfolk Over 60’s travelled to March IBC for the first leg of their challenge match against Cambs Seniors and find themselves with a ten point deficit to make up in the return at Hingham later in the year. The first two sessions both went Cambs way by 6-2 on points and they maintained their eight point lead as both the third and fourth sessions were drawn. Cambs lead increased to ten points when they won the fifth session 5-3 and Norfolk’s efforts to cut the deficit on the last session failed as it finished in another 4-4 draw. Norfolk’s top triple on the day were Teresa Goldsmith, Glen Hume & George Hume who won all their three games by 8-6, 7-5 & 11-5. Three other Norfolk triples won two out of three games and they were Mike Tate, Richard Broad & David Blundell, Nigel James, Jenny Walker & Jane James and Steve Easter, Billie Barker & Melvyn Barker. Norfolk Over 60’s always enjoy their visit to Cambs where they receive a warm welcome from the home side. Once again the majority of the team stopped at Arbuckles Restaurant & Bar at Bexwell near Downham Market on the journey back home where the food is always superb and the service is excellent.
