Norfolk Premier’s domination of their group in the Inter-County Championships was demonstrated again on Sunday with a 31-9 away win, 263-153 on shots, against Cambridgeshire at March IBC. Despite late withdrawals by two key players through illness Norfolk had too much in the locker for their hosts. The result leaves Norfolk top of the group on 214 points with Suffolk second on 101 after beating Northants 28-12 at the weekend. Cambridgeshire are third on 92 points with Northamptonshire Premier fourth on 73 points. Norfolk’s win was spearheaded by the triples with AJ Brown’s triple winning 16-10 & 17-9 and Chris Willies’ triple winning by 29-1 & 16-12 to collect all ten points in that discipline. Gary Best collected two wins in the singles beating Charlie Waling 13-11 and Joe Peters 15-9. Debbie Sparham & Jack Pye were on form in the pairs where they won their games by 17-11 & 20-7. Norfolk Premier can now look forward to the quarter-finals on the 18th February. Norfolk “A” also look certain to qualify for the next round in their section following the earlier withdrawal of Essex “A” and the failure of Worcs to raise a team for their matches against Norfolk.
