Six Norfolk bowlers competed in the ESMBA Open Singles where a spot representing England in the World Championships was up for grabs. In the group stages five of the six qualified for the knock-out rounds. In Group 6 Chris Willies of East Tuddenham and AJ Brown of Wymondham finished in first and second places to qualify for the knock-out rounds. Gary Best of Bob Carter won Group 8 with maximum points and Carter’s Morgan Warnes got through in second place in Group 9. Wymondham’s Jack Pye won Group 12 on maximum points. Bob Carter’s Jason Woods failed to qualify from Group 10 where he finished third with one win. Jack Pye and AJ Brown battled their way through to the quarter-finals but the eventual winner was Matty Worden and the runner-up Alex Kley who had beaten AJ Brown in the quarter-finals.
