Norfolk Over 60’s travelled to March IBC for the first leg of their challenge match against Cambridgeshire Seniors. There was little to choose between the two teams for much of the match but Norfolk Over 60’s dug deep to win the last two sessions for a 28-20 points win. Norfolk edged the opening session 5-3 with all four games closely fought. A good second session produced six points for Norfolk and an 11-5 points lead. Cambs responded well though with 6-2 points wins in the third and fourth sessions to lead 17-15 with two sessions remaining. The loss of their lead seemed to spur Norfolk into action and the fifth session brought three wins and a draw to put Norfolk back in front by 22 points to 18. The final session also went Norfolk’s way to complete a 28-20 points victory. The Norfolk triple of Pat Hall of Hevingham, Lesley Turner of Taverham & George Hume of Harling were the stand out performers on the day producing three straight wins of 9-8, 10-7 & 11-5 while David Crosby, Robin Amos, Jane James & Russell Davidson all skipped their triples to two wins apiece. The return leg at Norfolk’s Hingham venue has been set for Thursday 16th November.
