Norfolk Over 60’s enjoyed a good start against Cambridgeshire Seniors at Hingham in their challenge match to leave Norfolk's Over 60's organiser Teresa Goldsmith happy. Their good form continued during the day resulting in a 32-16 points win, 215-189 on shots. The first session saw Norfolk win three of the opening four games to take a 6-2 points lead. Jan Smail, Mike Smail & David Blundell won 11-6, Geoff Payne, Jill Hayman & Selwyn Goldsmith won by 10-7 and Lesley Turner, Richard Broad & Brian Turner won by 8-5. This was followed by another 6-2 points win in the second session with Di Quadling, Jill Davidson & Russell Davidson winning 12-6, Pat Saunders, David Chadwick & Jane James winning 9-7 and Nigel James, Dave Quadling & Andy Rawnsley winning 9-8. A shared third session saw two wins apiece with Geoff Payne, Jill Hayman & Selwyn Goldsmith winning 12-3 and Jenny Walker, Colin Hayman & Tony Oram winning 11-6 with the overall points score now 16-8 in Norfolk’s favour at the halfway stage. The home sides lead was increased again with the fourth session ending with Norfolk again winning on three mats. David Kerslake, Graham Atter & Terry Newby top scored with an excellent 18-2 win, Pat Saunders, David Chadwick & Jane James won by 10-7 and Di Quadling, Jill Davidson & Russell Davidson won 9-8. There was no way back for Cambs after session five as Norfolk won on all four mats to move 30-10 ahead on points. Geoff Payne, Jill Hayman & Selwyn Goldsmith made it a hat-trick of wins with a 13-5 result, Jan Smail, Mike Smail & David Blundell won by 7-6, Jenny Walker, Colin Hayman & Tony Oram won 10-6 and Lesley Turner, Richard Broad & Brian Turner won 13-5. In the last session Cambs tasted their first session win of the match as they won on three mats. Di Quadling, Jill Davidson & Russell Davidson won for Norfolk by 11-7 to complete their hat-trick of wins. It was a good team performance by Norfolk Over 60’s with everyone contributing to the win. Two triples won all their three games, four triples won two out of three of their games while the remaining two triples both gained two points each.
