England manager Steve McAlister will be pleased with the result gained against Wales in the match played in Dorset on the weekend of 20th & 21st November. The final score of the match involving both Premier and “A” teams from both nations was 91-37 in favour of England. Jack Pye of Wymondham was selected for England Premier in the coveted singles spot and opened with a 12-11 win against J Edwards in the opening session. Halvergate’s David Lamb skipped an England “A” team rink in the same session but his four slipped to a 17-5 defeat against A Slattery’s rink. It was a good start for England though as over the eight mats they won the session 12-4 on points. Session two consisted of all rinks games with East Tuddenham’s Chris Willies skipping an England Premier rink and David Lamb skipping an England “A” rink. Willies was beaten 8-6 by M John while Lamb went down 9-7 to C Davies’ rink in a drawn session. The third session saw Jack Pye back in singles action and he raced to a 22-5 win against C Davies while David Lamb’s rink went down by 13-7 to M John’s four as England stretched their lead on points to 30-18. Saturday’s session consisted of rinks games with Chris Willies four winning 7-6 and David Lamb’s rink winning 11-8. Sunday began well for England who won the first session of individual games by 12-4 on points. In the next session Chris Willies’ rink won by 17-7 while David Lamb’s rink won 11-6. The third session was won by England by 9-7 on points and the final session of the weekend saw England pull further ahead to complete the 91-37 points win.
